Through a series of public meetings, email surveys, and web-based research, the Project seeks to identify “best practices” from local districts and around the nation, any or all of which might be adopted by a superintendent or governing board. 

Some aspects will be localized to a particular region of Maricopa County, but the underlying themes will be portable.  The model is not only a rare opportunity for public input into education policy it is a chance to think and even dream about what might be – without regard to limitations or politics. 

Project participants will first envision the model in the abstract, identifying desired components, and later apply financial information where appropriate.

 Improve current choices Ensure teacher and staff compensation and support that allow for competitive recruitment and retention.

Ensure class sizes that are conducive to optimal learning.

Consider civil rights and demographic impacts.

Use existing facilities efficiently.

Enhance or add facilities and equipment to provide additional programs that meet student needs in the 21^st Century.

Provide safe and healthy learning environments.

Seek public input on the model and its recommendations.
